Training Practice
Dearne Valley Group Practice is a training practice for GPs and Nurses.
This means that we have qualified doctors ("GP Registrars") on 6 month placements in the practice while they enhance their skills and knowledge to become a General Practitioner. We also are aiding Nurses to become Practice Nurses. They are closely supervised by Dr Shepherd and Advanced Nurse Practitioner Janice Johnson (who are their trainers) and they have 100% support from everyone else on our team. They must complete a number of formal assessments during their training.
You may be offered an appointment with one of the GP Registrars or student Nurses. On occasion they may ask to video the consultation and sometimes another GP or Nurse will be present with them. If you are not comfortable with this please let the Doctor, Registrar or Nurse know. They will not be offended by your decision.
The Registrars and Nurses are a valued part of our team and you can expect the same standard of care from them as from any of our other GPs, Nurses and Health Care Professionals.
